MarriageSt Silas Church is one of Melbourne’s best located and most beautiful churches. Boasting a stunning Albert Park location, close to the city, the beach and the Bay, our church is unique for its character, colour and light.
For a wedding in an Anglican Church, the celebrant must be an Anglican priest, licensed and registered. Normally the Vicar officiates at weddings. Clergy of other traditions are most welcome to assist. Christian marriage includes the taking of wedding vows in Church, and asking for God’s help, protection and blessing. This adds to the solemnity of the occasion as each partner makes loving commitment to the other. We welcome those who wish to take this step at the Anglican Parish of the Parks. |
GETTING MARRIED
When a couple has decided to be married, there are many things to be done. All weddings have to comply with the regulations in the Commonwealth Marriage Act. There are forms to be filled out and preparations made, with which we can assist.
Two Specific Church Requirements
FIRST THINGS
As early as possible, a date and a time need to be agreed - check to ensure the chosen date is available - and a non refundable $200 deposit paid. Normally weddings are not held during Lent, the 40 days before Easter, and there are no weddings conducted on the Saturday between Good Friday and Easter Day.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION
Some preparation meetings will be held for this most significant step and formalities can be completed at this time. The preparation sections will facilitate conversations around the strengths in the couple's relationship, as well perhaps areas that might need some further mutual discussion. These sessions are an opportunity for celebration, reflection and mutual growth.

MUSIC
Music is an important part of the wedding ceremony and we have a fine musical tradition. We have a first class pipe organ, piano and soloists are available by arrangement. Music is an important feature of being married at the Parish of the Parks, and the Organist is happy to discuss various options. Download the Registration Form here. |
