Meet the vicar
Reverend Sophie Watkins

Rev Sophie Watkins has been the Vicar since December 2017.
She was ordained in St Paul’s Cathedral, Melbourne, in 1999. Her first training was in Fine
Arts (RMIT) and she prepared for ordination at Trinity College, Melbourne.
If she was at a crowded party, you’d find her holding a drink out on the balcony trying to
have a conversation with one or two people rather than grooving with the busy crowd.
Ask her about dogs, or give her a pulpit and she will wax lyrical.
She has a creative mind and an intuitive heart.
Her vision in ministry is to offer:
She believes that every person should have the right to marry the one they love and longs to celebrate the marriage of all people within the life of the church. She is a founding member and Secretary of Victorian Anglicans Together, who are committed to working towards a fully inclusive church.
She is a single parent to a magnificent human daughter and two pointers who leave fur on everything and keep her fit and healthy.
She is committed to the wellbeing of our earth and has recently bought a cargo bike which she uses in place of her car as often as is realistic. For recreation she enjoys making art, playing the piano, singing, reading, cooking and going on adventures with her daughter and dogs. She loves languages and is always open to learning new ones.
She welcomes an invitation to chat.
